Frequently Asked Questions

Hyperspeed broke my site. What do I do?

Don’t panic! If only your theme preview is broken, disable the options in Theme Optimization one by one until the error is gone.

Not sure what to disable? Check out our guide on common errors and their associated options.

If your live site is broken, start by selecting the ‘Remove Theme Changes’ button from the top bar of Hyperspeed. This removes all optimizations from your live theme.

If you need any help, we have experienced developers ready to help. Email and we’ll get everything fixed up.

My Google PageSpeed is still too low, why is that?

It could be frustrating if your PageSpeed score doesn’t go up much. However, it’s important to keep in mind the score is not a great metric to aim for.

The PageSpeed score does not impact search engine rankings or site conversions. Only real load time stats do.

The score itself is just an arbitrary number calculated from a bunch of weighted metrics based on what a ‘Good’ benchmark is.

However, what’s to say what ‘Good’ is? Every site is different, and has different requirements.

A blog that just has to display some text doesn’t have to load the cart functionality or marketing widgets that an online shop has. To say both sites should load in the same amount of time is unreasonable.

Instead, look at the specific stats that your audit report shows. Improving First Contentful Paint and Largest Contentful Paint will make your site feel much faster. Improving Speed Index and Total Time to Interactive will also help make your site feel faster to improve conversions.

What happens if I make a change to my theme and then remove changes in Hyperspeed?

Don’t worry! We keep a record of all of our changes so that we can remove Hyperspeed code without removing your other theme modifications.

If you made changes to your theme after installing Hyperspeed, removing your theme optimizations will not remove those changes.

I’d like to uninstall Hyperspeed. Is there anything I need to do?

Yes, head over to the Hyperspeed dashboard from your Shopify dashboard. From the top bar, select the ‘Remove Theme Changes’ button.

Once this is done, feel free to remove the app from your store. If you change your mind, just head over to the theme optimization section to optimize your theme again.

‘Remove Theme Changes’ will remove Hyperspeed’s code from your theme. Forget to do this before removing the app? No problem. Contact and we can get that sorted out for you.
